How sport can connect us to a community
I was brought up on the sport of Gaelic football and I still love ❤️ it now ( - watching it)! Thanks Daddy.
As a family, we spent Sunday morning travelling around the country (not just the county).
I'd say we loved it most of the time. But I'd be lying if I said that the prospect of travelling across the country and back in one day sometimes made we want to have a tantrum (and I'm sure I did)!
I think that there's nothing better than getting behind a team or individual and wanting them to win. It's an adrenalin rush that definitely gets the blood pumping and happy hormones popping. And can give you an amazing sense of positivity and hope, believing that your team can win.
The fact that I still get excited when watching sport only brings back happy memories and a sense of belonging.
Sport taught me about a sense of community, dedication, love ❤️ , hope, commitment, joy, elation, failure, hardship, success, hope, camaraderie, teamwork, spirit, excitement.
There's a strong connection with others in sport and that can often be with people we do not know or have never met, but in the moments that we are all wishing and shouting for our side to win, we are all connected. It's energy. It's all about our love ❤️ for the same thing.
Why not make a list today of the situations that you are in that makes you feel good.
I love when I try something new but there's nothing like the feeling of a large collection of people watching a match or sport together and the energy is high and we are feeding off each other.
The fact that I have watched more rugby 🏉 matches than Gaelic football over the past 5 years means nothing Daddy because it's all the same - love ❤️ for happiness, positivity and yes winning!
And for old times sake - "Up Armagh" x
