Sleep and Energy Are Related

Sleep is necessary. Whether you need 8-9 hours or 4-5 hours to function well, we all need to determine what works for us to be able to live well and not walk around with matchsticks in our eyes all day, rely on caffeine and sugar to keep us going and not want to burst out crying out of exhaustion because you feel you could fall down on the spot and snore you head off.

Honestly, generally speaking I sleep very well. The only times my sleep gets effected is when I am overly stressed with a over active constant to do list and worry in my head; when the full moon is building it's energy and when I suffer from pain. I have written before on how I have suffered from pains in my knees most of my life, this has hugely effected my sleep in the past but the practice I keep helps to keep that under control and Reiki is a huge part of that.

Sleep and energy are connected

When our minds shut down and we sleep our energy system plugs into source energy. The same life force energy we work during a Reiki Healing.  Little sleep, disturbed sleep or no sleep can turn you into a walking, flat, unenthusiastic living soul.

Sleep is Vitamin S, it helps to keep us well in all 4 dimensions of our life - mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. It rejuvenates our intelligence, wisdom, intuition and creativity. That is why the act of sleeping is not completely the only reason why we feel good in the morning and throughout the day or not. It is how we live out our day/weeks/months/years that enable us a good nights sleep. Very often it is what we are doing in our waking minutes that effect how we sleep.

There is also no prize rewarded to anyone who sleeps less than they should. Feeling tired and looking wrecked is no trophy for the lack of hours you are missing.

A healing can help with sleep

A healing treatment is a wonderfully relaxing way to spend time in a calming space to work on treating your body and aura to clear any energies or blockages that are contributing to any sleep deprivation. It helps to encourage you body's own ability to heal and kick-start whatever you need to help bring this healing on. Whether that be motivation to change your routine, clarity to a situation that may be causing you stress or the ability to slow down to allow for better rest when you sleep. Whatever it is you need, a healing session will tune into your energy system and what you need the most to help you. It helps to release the negative energy that is causing you not to sleep. Encouraging relaxation through healing techniques like Reiki will encourage you own ability to relax by yourself. Some people who suffer from always feeling tired after a reasonable night's sleep can also benefit hugely from an energy healing.

Whilst I believe a healing can bring you extremely positive and effective benefits, there is no doubt consciously changing some minor or major ways you live will help. I work with clients to manage this into their daily routine as gently and effectively as possible. Each client has their very own personalised treatments and programmes. Changes for the better will always help.

Other ways to sleep better:

  • Mindfulness

  • Meditation

  • Switch off 1-2 hours before bed

  • Switch off for 1 hour after waking

  • No blue screens in the bedroom

  • Exercise

  • Fresh air

  • Water Hot baths before bed with lavender oil

  • Don't lie awake in bed get up and read a book

  • Don't check your phone/look at any blue screens in the middle of the night when you wake up

  • Keep your bed time to a routine

  • Bring forward your bed time to allow for wind down time

  • Stop smoking and drinking alcohol

  • Healthier diet

  • Black out windows

  • Noise reduction

  • Buy a good mattress and pillow

Whilst you may not need to do/eliminate all of the above. Depending on you and your lifestyle you may need to try what works for you and be patient and know that if this is ongoing you need to give any change time to work. Of-course if this on-going you should go and see your Doctor.

Sleeping pills or supplements help many and in some case are completely necessary (again with a Doctor's advise) but you can become reliant or them so try all natural ways first to try and improve your sleep pattern.
